Turmeric Coconut Banana Smoothie

Oh my goodness...I've been obsessed with this smoothie for at least two weeks now. If you haven't used turmeric in a smoothie before, then the first sip will be a bit of a surprise. Trust me it's a good thing, turmeric has somewhat of a warm earthy taste with a hint of black pepper like flavour. Plus it has amazing health benefits, such as the potential to prevent heart disease, Alzheimer's and cancer. It's a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and may also help improve symptoms of depression and arthritis. Wow right???



Makes: 2 servings


Recipe


  • 1 sliced banana

  • 1 cup frozen mango or a combination of frozen mango and frozen pineapple

  • 1 cup *coconut milk (Thai Kitchen)

  • 1 tsp organic turmeric

  • 1 tsp ginger ground or s small nib of fresh ginger peeled

  • 1 tbsp liquid honey

  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice

  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt

  • 1/4 cup crushed ice cubes


1. Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.

2. Serve in a chilled glass.


*If you don't have coconut milk on hand you can substitute with whatever type of milk you prefer.
